Project Profile: MES engineered 5 miles of system conduit and coordinated with ITC, MDOT, The University of Michigan, and the City of Ann Arbor. The team updated cable scopes, designed cables, verified existing cables, identified hazards and prepared RSDs for hazardous work. Additionally, we scheduled RSDs and DTE resources and completed as-built documentation for DTE, the City of Ann Arbor, and the University of Michigan, covering conduit, foundation, NetBank, and cable design.

Project Profile: In 2023 DTE entrusted MES with their Pilot Project, the STLUS1136-Urban Underground Residential (URD) conversion, an overhead to underground project in the City of Detroit. The scope of this project was to convert 435 customers from overhead to underground to improve the reliability of their service. In order to convert the 435 customers, MES completed the planning and design of 15 miles of URD conduit and cable which included primary, secondary, and service wire.

Project Profile: In 2022, MES was awarded the Trenton Channel Submarine Cable Failure Replacement project that consisted of 4,000ft of underground conduit and 7,000ft of sub transmission cables design within DTE Energy’s Trenton Channel Power Plant. The project was initiated due to a submarine cable failure beneath the Detroit River, and included a 3,000ft directional bore from City of Trenton to Grosse Ile Township. MES was responsible for performing pre and post pulling calculations on the sub transmission cables that were installed in said conduits. In addition, MES prepared an inadvertent return (IR) plan and performed field monitoring during construction by drone during active drilling times.

Boyne Conduit
Project scope included designing over 9,000 feet of conduit, performing geotechnical studies, developing dewatering and shoring plans and permitting for MDOT, Macomb County, and CN Rail Road.

Corrosion Maintenance
As DTE’s Gas Planning vendor, MES has designed 14 corrosion projects which include coordination of TSO, Corrosions, Pressure and Construction departments.

New Market Gas Main Extensions
As DTE’s Gas Planning vendor, MES has designed over 50 main extensions which include design, Job Card, permitting and construction coordination.

Joint Trench Subdivisions
As DTE’s Gas Planning vendor, MES has designed 20 different joint trench subdivisions, which include all aspects of design, permitting and joint trench coordination.

Gas Service Alterations/New Services
As DTE’s Gas Planning vendor, MES has processed over 700 new services and service alterations, which include customer contact, site visit, Job Card creation and construction coordination.

2017 Ann Arbor MRP
Scope included over 20,000 feet of main and 45 service renewals/ties overs. As the design firm for this project MES completed the design, permitting and creation of work orders. MES also provides construction support and coordination with Corby Energy Services.

Dexter Chelsea
Was a project to upgrade the system supply for the City of Chelsea and surrounding areas. This project consisted of replacing over 20,000 feet of high pressure steel main and over 40 farm tap service lines. As the project designers MES was responsible for the designing, permitting and creation of work orders for the project.
